I’m so excited to share episode 1 of our rental kitchen remodel series! I mentioned a few weeks ago (here) that my husband and I recently moved into a rental that is somewhat of a fixer upper, so we’re fixing it up and documenting the whole process with you guys. I feel like I need to dedicate a whole blog post as to how/why we made the decision to RENT a “fixer upper” instead of finding a newer/updated rental (I’ll work on that post), but I blame 90% of that decision on my love for old homes… and Joanna Gaines.
The first space we’re tackling is the kitchen, and in this episode I give you a tour of what the kitchen CURRENTLY looks like. I say “currently”, because it actually looked worse than it does in the video! This is what the kitchen looked like when we first moved in (see below pic).
We had the cabinets painted white before we started filming, so in the video the kitchen doesn’t look AS bad as it did when we first moved in, but it’s still VERY dated. Oh, and remember the dutch door I was telling you that I fell in love with? Well, this is what it originally looked like. Love is blind, folks…
So check out the video and let me know your thoughts. Am I completely crazy for remodeling a rental? Don’t answer that. Would you rent a home with a kitchen that looked like this? Wait until you see the bathrooms.
Call me crazy, but I’m excited! I feel like renters (and/or people who don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on a remodel) are a forgotten population when it comes to design. So I can’t wait to share all the budget friendly, DIY friendly, and rental friendly tips/trick/ideas (and problems) I find along the way. I’ll be sharing more behind the scenes on Facebook and Instagram, and I may need your help on a few design decisions, so be sure to follow along there, as well!
Thanks for watching!
