At the beginning of this year, I declared it the “year of wellness.” A year of focusing on becoming physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy. A year of finding balance. And now, five months in, I’m failing miserably at this quest. My work-life balance is still heavily skewed towards work. Starting a new PT job in the midst of all my other creative endeavors didn’t help. Couple a new job with moving into a new place equals an increase in fast food intake. I did join a gym and went regularly…for about a week. Gah! It’s crazy how fast resolutions and good intentions can fall by the wayside.
In my mind, I can see the person I want to become and the healthy, balanced lifestyle I want to live, but I just don’t have the time to initiate a P.O.A to become “her”. I’m just too busy right now, or at least that’s what I thought… until I listened to this TED Talk from Laura Vanderkam on How to Gain Control of your Free Time, which basically debunks the notion that you don’t have time to do something, but rather it’s just not a priority.
It’s not that you lack the time, it’s that you just don’t want to do it. -Laura Vanderkam
She further goes on to explain that there are 168 hours in each week, and even if you’re working 60 hours a week (which I’m not), and sleeping 8 hours each night, that still leaves you 52 hours to do other things! So clearly, a lack of time is not my issue. I just need to make those “other” things a priority. Nothing like a good TED Talk to make you feel like a complete bum, yet encouraged and motivated. I highly recommend you take the “time” to listen to it. Lately, I’ve been re-assessing how I want to spend those 52+ “free” hours I have. So when JORD (maker of handcrafted wood watches) reached out to partner with me to do a giveaway, it was ironically timely. I’m absolutely in love with this watch! I’m wearing the Zebrawood + Emerald. Every time I look at it, I can’t help but be reminded that time is a gift. What I love about this brand is their unique styles. Their women’s watches are a perfect mix of simple and causal, yet pretty, which I love since some wood watches have the tendency to look too masculine or bulky. It’s also very light-weight, which was surprising. Their Men’s watches are dope too, so fellas feel free to enter the giveaway, as well!
For the giveaway, one lucky person will win a $100 gift code to use on the JORD site. BUT, what makes this giveaway even better, is that everyone who enters will receive a $25 consolation code to use on the site! So technically, everyone WINS!
